VICE ADMIRAL RAJESH PENDHARKAR, AVSM, VSM FLAG OFFICER COMMANDING-IN-CHIEF, EASTERN NAVAL COMMAND
Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, AVSM, VSM has graduated from the National Defence Academy (69th Course, Golf Squadron) and was commissioned into the lndian Navy in Jan 1987.

A specialist in Anti-Submarine Warfare, he is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College (Wellington), Naval War College (Karanja), and the Naval Command College, Newport, Rhode Island (USA). He holds a Master Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies.

After his early assignments onboard various ships, he commanded the missile corvette INS Kora, missile frigate lNS Shivalik and the aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He was the Flag Officer Sea Training from Feb 20 to May 21.

His staff appointments include Assistant Chief of lntegrated Defence Staff (lnt - A) at HQ lDS, New Delhi, and subsequently as the Chief Staff Officer (Operations) in Headquarters, Western Naval Command. Subsequently, as the Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area, followed by Flag Officer Sea Training. He was the Deputy Chief lntegrated Defence Staff at HQIDS since 01 Apr 23 prior to being appointed as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command on 01 Aug 23.

The Flag Officer is a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.

Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS)
Admiral R Hari Kumar, is an alumnus of J-Squadron, 61 Course National Defence Academy. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1983 and has specialised in Gunnery.
 
Admiral R Hari Kumar has commanded Coast Guard Ship C-01, INS Nishank, INS Kora, INS Ranvir and INS Viraat. His other sea-going appointments include Fleet Operations officer and Fleet Gunnery Oficer of Western Fleet, EXO of INS Vipul, GO of INS Ranjit, Commissioning GO of INS Kuthar and Commissioning GO VII of INS Ranvir.

His ashore appointments include Command Gunnery Officer at HQ Western Naval Command, Naval Advisor to Government of Seychelles, Training Commander INS Dronacharya. His Flag appointments include Commandant of Naval War College at Goa, Flag Officer Sea Training, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, Chief of Staff Western Naval Command, Controller Personnel Services and Chief of Personnel at Ha MoD (N), and CisC/ VCDS at HQIDS. Prior to taking overas Chief of the Naval Staff, the Admiral was Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief VWestern Naval Command.

The Flag Officer had served in the Civil Military Operations Centre of UN Mission in Somalia (UNOSOM I) at Mogadishu from Dec 1992 to Jun 1993. He attended the US Naval Staff ourse at Naval War College, Rhode Island in 1996, Army Higher Command Course at AWC, Mhow in 2004, ánd the Royal College of Defence Studies, London in 2009. He holds a B.Sc. from JNU, MA (International Studies) from Kings College, London, MPhil (Defence & Strategic Studies) from Mumbai University and PG Diploma in Shipping Management from Narottam Morarjee Institute of Shipping, Mumbai.

He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2010, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2016 and Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2021.

Admiral R Hari Kumar is a good swimmer, plays badminton and enjoys walking. He is married to Mrs Kala Nair who is presently a home maker. They have one daughter Ms Anjana Nair who is married to Mr Jayvijay and are currently working at Auckland, New Zealand.

Shri Rajnath Singh HON'BLE RAKSHA MANTRI

Childhood & Education

Born on 10th July 1951 in a farmer’s family at village Babhora, Tehsil Chakia, District Varanasi (now District Chanduli) UP, to Shri Rambadan Singh and Srimati Gujarati Devi

He received basic education in the village and subsequently, he completed his MSc Physics from Gorakhpur University UP. He worked as a lecturer of Physics at K.B. Post-Graduate College Mirzapur,  UP.

Public & Social Life

He was a brilliant student since his student life. He became the RSS General Secretary of Mirzapur city in 1972. He also remained the organisational secretary of ABVP Gorakhpur division from 1969 to 1971.

He entered politics in 1974 and was elected as MLA in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in 1977.

He was elected as MLC for Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council in 1988 and became Education Minister in 1991. During his tenure as Education Minister in UP, he established some landmarks by introducing the Anti-Copying Act and Vedic Mathematics in the syllabus. He became a member of the Rajya Sabha in 1994. On November 22, 1999, he became Union Surface Transport Minister. During this period he got the opportunity to initiate the NHDP (National Highway Development Programme), a dream project of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

On October 28, 2000, he became Chief Minister of UP and was twice elected as MLA from Haidargarh constituency in Barabanki.

On May 24, 2003, he became Union Minister of Agriculture and subsequently for Food Processing. During this period he initiated a few epoch-making projects like Kisan Call Centre and Farm Income Insurance Scheme.

He also embarked on 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra' which covered several States taking up the cause of increasing terrorist activities and threats to internal security. He laid emphasis on issues of public interest like spiraling prices of essential commodities, farmers’ grievances and other national issues. He wrote a book named as “Unemployment its Reasons and Remedies”.

He became the BJP National President on December 31, 2005, a post he held till December 19, 2009. In May 2009, he was elected MP from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

On May 26, 2014, Shri Rajnath Singh took oath as the Union Minister of India and worked as Union Minister for Home Affairs till 30 May 2019.

On May 31, 2019, Shri Rajnath Singh has been allocated portfolio of Union Minister for Ministry of Defence.

MILAN Logo 2024

The MILAN 2024 Logo symbolizes the theme of the exercise 'Camaraderie Cohesion Collaboration', which has been highlighted and inscribed in the Logo.

The yellow ceremonial rope indicates strong bonding between its strands to form a single, uniting entity in consonance with the overall aim of MILAN.

The two anchors on either side represent stability, aimed to be achieved in the region through the Exercise.

The inner circle has a gradient of tricolor of India's National Flag as host nation.

The globe in the background (with India in center) indicates the inclusivity of all nations in the Exercise.

The location of Visakhapatnam has been highlighted on the map to indicate the venue of MILAN 2024

The light house on the hill represents the mariners' traditional, enduring guiding beacon. The ship silhouette and the blue waves indicate the congregation of ships from friendly navies with an aim to enhance professional interaction and gain experience from each other through operations at sea.
